Re: Testimony in Support for the Hawaii Island Labor Day Classic
Aloha Council Member Kleinfelder:
My sincere mahalo for your initial commitment to support the efforts of the Hawaii
Island Labor Day Classic. Our mission is to boost the Big Island's economy through
Sports Tourism while providing and avenue to grow our youth volleyball program. Your
financial commitment will help us present a quality program that will enrich our local
lifestyle and provide an educational and authentic "Hawaii" experience for our visiting
teams.
More importantly, our goal is to grow in numbers, become financially self sustaining in
short time and become one to Hawaii's premier Sports Event and economic
contributor. It is also our intent to create the same tournament during the spring for the
boys volleyball season as soon as we become self-sufficient.
Please take a few seconds to view the video attached below. It is a short video
highlight of the tournament which includes the Ice Cream Social, tournament play,
Luau and South Point and Punalu'u beach tour where teams were involved in beach
cleanup. Reciprocal benefits between locals and visitors are the goals. We are very
conscious about the impression we present as authentic Hawaii as well as the
memories our visitors take with them.
I want to thank you in advance for your continued support to pass Resolution 299-25
to be heard on September 3rd, 2025 County Council Meeting.
