Volpe <br />Deputy Fire Chief <br />ev <br />0 <br />v� <br />Fn <br />Dr. Holeka Coro Inaba, Chair N <br />and Members of the Hawaii County Council <br />Hawaii County Council — <br />25 Aupuni Street r� <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 UJ <br />Re: FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Post -Fire Award — Community Wildfire Fuels <br />Reduction and Defensible Space (Phase 1) <br />The County of Hawaii has been awarded $68,000 in FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program <br />(HMGP) — Post -Fire funds, administered through the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency. <br />These funds will support Phase 1 (planning and preparatory activities) of the Community <br />Wildfire Fuels Reduction and Defensible Space Project, which is intended to reduce the risk of <br />wildfires in vulnerable communities within Hawaii County. <br />Enclosed for Council consideration are: <br />1. A resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the <br />State of Hawaii, Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, to accept the HMGP funds; <br />and <br />2.
