The PONC was established to "purchase, acquire, and preserve community -identified lands with
cultural, historic, natural resource, educational, and public access benefits".
The land was the site of a historic Hawaiian village meeting the "cultural, historic, and educational"
requirement.
The property has an ocean frontage where the public accesses the ocean on a regular basis, meeting the
"public access benefits" requirement.
The purchase of this property has been urged since the PONC was established.
