Dear Council members The contemplated purchase of Honolulu Landing is in the public's interest. The public will benefit by the County acquiring and preserving this important cultural site for current and future generations. I've lived in the area about 20 years now and see the stress caused by the current subdivisions filling up. Not only do we need to preserve the cultural artifacts for posterity, we need to increase the inventory of public open space. This parcel could, with minimal investment, demonstrate elected leaders' commitment to preserving the area's rich cultural heritage as well as it would enrich both the resident and visitor experience with interpretive signage and public recreational activities, compatible with the parcel's history and artifacts. Our area needs to retain it's history, provide everyone with shared open space, and not further exacerbate strains on the limited infrastructure in the area by further residential development. Please support the purchase and preservation of this parcel. o N C" o s-) Lance Duncan c c zcc Hawaiian Parks N" C o-< J= Comm. Ref. To: Ref. Date E - 2
