Subject: support Resolution # 286-25
I am very much in support of the acquisition of this property for the Public Land trust and urge the county
council and especially the Mayor to take immediate action on this proposal. We could lose this
opportunity any time to real estate speculators.
The people of Puna desperately need coastal access and it has been a long delay in action since the
2018 lava flow. The economy of Puna can not rebuild if we do not have recreational value
for tourism, protection of cultural assets, and proactive government.
In a meeting with Mayor Alameda attended by 4lineal descendants and two supporters representing 5
nonprofits willing to steward; the community demonstrated its strong support for this action. The petition
created at the beginning of August now has well over 1,000 signatures. Please act and follow through
with this proposal.
