This Is Why Should the County Council Support Resolution 234-25
Aloha,
Resolution 234-25 should be supported because Pohakuloa is a sacred and irreplaceable wahi pana,
home to endangered species and vital cultural sites. Decades of military activity have already inflicted
irreversible environmental harm, contaminated soil and water, and pose ongoing risks to public health.
The Hawai'i Constitution requires the State to malama'aina, yet past failures to protect this land
highlight the urgency for change. Military training is fundamentally incompatible with conservation,
cultural stewardship, and the community's well-being.Thankyou.
