Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members,
I am writing this letter in support of Resolution No. 267 for Fair and
Equitable Elections introduced by Julie Jacobson. It is a very good idea that
the Chair of the Election Observer Team be an objective individual not
associated with an election campaign or a member of the Charter
Commission. It is also common sense to have the absentee walk-in polls
open for identical hours and days to avoid confusion. I also do not
understand how anyone could oppose insuring that all precincts receive
equal funding, nor oppose the idea of recruiting precinct volunteers from
sources such as the University of Hawaii, the Community Colleges and
churches. Please support resolution 267.
