US Military training at Pohakuloa has already caused serious harm -burning nearly 20,000 acres, contaminating the land, and threatening endangered species. Beneath this area lies a major aquifer that supplies fresh water to Hawaii Island, and the military's track record shows they are not equipped to protect such importance of it's resource we, the People of Moku O Keawe Hawai'i so redundantly rely upon. There is also a serious concern about depleted uranium left in the soil, which can become airborne during exercises and has known health risks, especially to when the Easternly and Westernly winds are blowing over gusts of 50 mph or more to the Waikoloa Communities as well as to the residence where my'ohana and I have been living for over 7-years and still live on the Humu'ula Ahupua'a (Humu'ula Kala't'eha Ranch) also known as Mauna Kea Lower Summit of Ranch lands currently under The Department of Hawaiian Homes Lands. Pohakuloa is a wahi pana- sacred place with deep cultural and ecological significance. The continued military use is incompatible with its conservation status and the values of aloha'aina. Please support this resolution to Kia'i a Pohakuloa wahi pana- Protect Pohakuloa sacred place,'o ka'aina- the land, wai ola- water is life, and na kanaka a pau o Hawaii net- all of the people Hawai'i. Mahalo nunui Loa for your support and consideration to this very important Resolution 234-25 for Hawaii net Future.
