Dear Council Members,
Please also ADD this to Bill 82 of BANNING THE USE OF CELL PHONES while crossing all Public Roadways.
I have almost run over people crossing the road without looking to see if there are any approaching cars, all because they
were distracted while talking on their cell phones. All pedestrians need to yield (it means STOP) to an approaching car
before crossing a roadway. Thats what I was taught as a young kid and I am sure this habit over the years has saved many
lives including my own. However, now that cell phones are part of our lives, I think its time to pay attention to how they
are harming us when we are using them while crossing a roadway. Its all about SAFETY and the pedestrian needs his/her
FULL attention before crossing a roadway. Therefore BANNING cell phone use while crossing a roadway should be part of
Bill 82. Mahalo.
