Testimony in Support of a Plastic Free Hawai'i Island
Aloha Chair Hustace, Vice Chair Kierkiewicz, and Councilmembers,
1 am writing in strong support of Bill 20, which will prohibit single -use plastics such as cups, forks, and
straws in Hawai'i County. These items are among the most common forms of litter, polluting our land
and waters, endangering marine life, and undermining the natural beauty and health of our island home.
Bill 20 represents a meaningful step forward in protecting Hawai'i's precious resources and ensuring a
cleaner, healthier environment for future generations. By reducing our reliance on single -use plastics, we
set an example of environmental stewardship.that honors our community values and responsibility to
our'aina.
I respectfully urge you to vote YES on Bill 20 and help safeguard the future of our island and oceans.
