Subject: Our Aina Deserves Better —Support the Plastic Ban
Aloha,
My name is Noelani Spencer, and I am a resident of Kamuela, Waimea. I am writing to strongly urge you to
support the amendment to Chapter 20 that strengthens the prohibition of single -use plastics and
polystyrene foam in Hawai'i.
The environmental damage caused by disposable plastics is undeniable —our beaches, reefs, and marine
wildlife are drowning in pollution. These plastics never fully disappear; they break into microplastics that
enter our food chains and drinking water. We are poisoning our people and the ecosystems we are a part of on
every level in the name of convenience.
This is not just an environmental issue —it is a moral one. Our keiki and future generations deserve to inherit
'aina that is healthy, vibrant and one that sustains life.
Please do the right thing. Vote YES to phase out single -use plastics and protect this incredibly sacred
place.
