A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HANA LAULIMA LĀHUI
O KAʻŪ INC. FOR ITS 10TH ANNUAL PRINCE KŪHIŌ DAY HOʻOLAULEʻA.
WHEREAS, Hana Laulima Lāhui O Kaʻū Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the development of a new economic base for the district of Ka‘ū that will enhance
economic growth, and promote a secure economic future for the community and the children of Ka‘ū, while preserving the rich Native Hawaiian cultural heritage and love for the ‘āina;
and
WHEREAS, Hana Laulima Lāhui O Ka‘ū Inc. is coordinating the 10th Annual Prince Kūhiō Day Hoʻolauleʻa, which will be held March 28, 2026, at Nā‘ālehu Ball Park, and is a free event open
to the public that will include live music, hula performances, Hawaiian arts, crafts, games, workshops, demonstrations, cultural exhibits, and a historical presentation to honor the
legacy of Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizational events and public programs that enrich the lives of community members through activities that promote compliance with
liquor laws; and
WHEREAS, Hana Laulima Lāhui O Kaʻū Inc. is requesting funding assistance to cover the cost of sound system equipment rental for the event, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting,
improving, or promoting the public health and welfare of the people and the environment, educational concerns, and the interests of culture and the arts of our island; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaiʻi County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief
funds from Council District 6 are hereby transferred to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hana Laulima Lāhui O Kaʻū Inc. for the expenses and purposes identified
in “Exhibit A,” a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
