COUNTY OF HAWAPI <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAI4I <br />44 2G <br />A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION OF AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL <br />DEFIBRILLATORS FOR THE HAWAVI POLICE DEPARTMENT. <br />WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Charter of the County of Hawaii <br />(hereinafter "the Charter") provides that the Council, "on behalf of the county, may accept gifts <br />of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in <br />real estate"; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 <br />(2016 Edition, as amended) (hereinafter "the Code") provides, in part, that "gifts or donations of <br />money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the <br />department of finance may be accepted by resolution approved by the council"; and <br />WHEREAS, Hilo Benioff Medical Center Foundation, a non-profit entity, wishes to <br />donate eighty-two automatic external defibrillators ("AEDs"), which have an estimated total <br />value of approximately $130,000, to the Hawaii Police Department; and <br />WHEREAS, these AEDs are intended to be deployed to police officers for use in cardiac <br />events; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department is grateful for this donation and <br />recommends its acceptance by the Council; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, <br />pursuant to Section 13-12 of the Charter and Section 2-162 of the Code, the donation from Hilo <br />Benioff Medical Center Foundation hereinabove described is hereby accepted. <br />
