1 am writing to strongly oppose the inclusion of Smart Meters, Smart Grid infrastructure, and Cel TAers
in the Hawai'i County 2045 General Plan.

After a smart meter was installed at my residence, I began experiencing serious health issues, including
severe insomnia, bladder problems, and increased anxiety. These symptoms were sudden and
distressing.
I later used a radiation meter to measure the exposure levels inside and outside my home and
discovered extremely high readings— consistently over 20+ units.
Once I moved to a location without a smart meter, my symptoms significantly improved, confirming my
concerns. I truly believe that I —and others in our community —are being used as test subjects for
constant, involuntary radiation exposure without proper consent, transparency, or long-term safety data.
This is not an isolated experience. Numerous independent organizations and advocacy groups have
documented serious health concerns related to smart meters, including:
Environmental Health Trust (ehtrust.or¢) — Documents symptoms such as insomnia, headaches, fatigue,
and cardiovascular effects.
Smart Grid Awareness (smartgridawareness.or¢)—Highlights biological effects and overall health risks of
smart meter deployments.
Stop Smart Meters (stonsmartmeters.org_.nz) —Shares concerns about microwave radiation, "dirty
electricity," and potential cancer risk.
Electrosmog Prevention (electrosmogprevention.org) — References medical support and case series
identifying health harm.
World Council for Health and Weston A. Price Foundation — Outline widespread health and biological
disruption linked to RFexposure.

Dr. Federica Lamech's case series (Victoria, Australia) which documented health symptoms after smart
meter installation. '
A Wiley Online Library study measuring RF emissions from smart meters in the UK, which compares
them against safety thresholds but raises concerns for cumulative exposure.
Reported health effects include:
Sleep disturbances
Headaches and dizziness
Fatigue and malaise
Cognitive impairment, especially in children
Cardiovascular symptoms
Tinnitus
Skin irritation
Endocrine/hormonal disruption
Long-term cancer risk (RF is classified as a Group 2B possible carcinogen by the World Health
Organization's IARC)
These effects disproportionately impact vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, those with
chronic health conditions, or individuals with heightened electromagnetic sensitivity.
For the health and safety of our community, I urge you to:
Deny the inclusion of Smart Meters and Smart Grid technologies in the 2045 General Plan.
Reject further expansion of cell tower infrastructure in residential and rural areas.
Support alternatives that prioritize health, privacy, and true community choice.
Big Island residents deserve to live without being exposed to unproven and potentially harmful
technologies. Please do not make us test subjects for long-term radiation exposure.
Attached are photos showing the radiation levels I personally recorded inside my home —a clear
example of what many of us are dealing with on a daily basis.

My photos show that both the outside of my old place, and the inside were 20+ on the radiation meter.
This shows that our community are now the test subjects to this constant radiation.

Please DENY AR the Smartmeters, Smart Grid, and Cell Tower Plans in the 2045 General Plan. And STOP
our people being Test Subjects to this kind of radiation because there are proven cases that this kind of
radiation has health effects, I felt them firsthand.
