Hi Bike testimony
I urge you to support Resolution 318.25 and fund the HIBIKE bikeshare project. HIBIKE is more than just a bikeshare; it's a
catalyst for a healthier, less congested, and more connected Hawaii Island.
This project directly addresses critical needs in our community by:
Easing Traffic: Getting more people on bikes means fewer cars on the road, leading to shorter drive times and more
reliable bus schedules.
• Closing Transportation Gaps: It provides the crucial "first/last mile" connection to the Hele-On Bus, making public transit
a viable option for more people.
• Building a Biking Culture: HIBIKE will help create a vibrant, intergenerational culture around biking in Kailua-Kona and
Hilo, encouraging both recreation and daily transportation.
Furthermore, the membership model is designed to reward frequent use, ensuring that residents get outstanding value
for their transportation dollars. Let's invest in a fun, healthy, and sustainable future for our island.
