Aloha County Council Policy Committee,
Mahalo for this opportunity to strongly SUPPORT Resolution 350-25, affirming the County's
commitment to due process and protection of Constitutional rights for all residents of our County. I add
my voice to you in requesting the Mayor review existing and potential agreements with any public or
private partners, and especially in limiting any police involvement with the Department of Homeland
Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to only cases involving criminal activity.
As you discuss this Resolution, I encourage you to make the language clear that the County does not and
will not consider simple undocumented resident status as a "criminal," rather than civil concern. I
encourage you to make language clear that the police department does not and will not inquire into
residency status when interfacing with the public. I also encourage you to include language that prohibits
any and all law enforcement, be it local, state, or federal, to wear identity -concealing masks except in
those instances of undercover investigations or requiring emergency health -protective equipment.
