Aloha Chair and Members of the Hawaii County Council,
I am writing to express that Mayor Alameda reviews the existing and potential agreements with public
and private partners to ensure constitutional rights of residents are protected and requests the Hawai' i
Police Department to limit its involvement with the United States Department of Homeland Security,
Immigration and Customs Enforcement to cases involving criminal activity.
Further and clearly requesting to rescind all MOUs with ICE/HSI, reject any 287(g) agreements with the
federal government and ensure Hawai'i Police Department officers are always properly identified and in
uniform, except in legitimate undercover criminal operations, not immigration raids.
