Aloha Chair and Members of the Hawai'i County Council,
I urge Mayor Alameda to review the existing and potential agreements with public and private partners to
ensure constitutional rights of residents are protected and requests the Hawai' i police Department to
Limit its involvement with the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and
Customs Enforcement to cases involving criminal activity.
I call on the Council to rescind all MOUs with ICE/HSI, reject any 287(g) agreements with the federal
government and ensure Hawai'i Police Department officers are always properly identified and in uniform,
except in legitimate undercover criminal operations, not immigration raids.
