Thank you for the opportunity to express my STRONG SUPPORT for Res. 320-25 — A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR DUE PROCESS AND THE PROTECTION OF CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS FOR ALL RESIDENTS OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI' I AND AFFIRMING THE COUNTY's COMMITMENT TO MULTICULTURALISM AND ITS IMMIGRANT HERITAGE. My name is Ruth Robison. I live in Hilo, County Council District 2. 1 urge the Hawai'i county Council to approve this resolution. As the resolution states: "recent national and local events targeting immigrants have underscored the importance of reaffirmingthe County' s commitment to upholding these constitutional rights for all residents, and remaining dedicated to the fair and impartial enforcement of laws, protecting individuals from government overreach or discriminatory practices in any form, and maintaining public trust." In my role as the International Student Advisor at UH Hilo, I was proud of the fact that "diversity and inclusion are foundationalto our communityvalues and strength." This resolution emphasizes our extremely important collective rights. Unfortunately, in these these precarious times we need to do everything possible to protect these rights for all of the people of Hawai ' i Island. Thank you for your service to the people of Hawai'i Island. Ruth E. Robison, Ph D Comm. Ref. To: t Ref. Date CT 2 202E
