Subject: October 22 CC Meeting Testimony: Support of Resolution 320-25
To All County Council Members,
I strongly support Resolution 350-25 affirming the County's commitment to due process and
protection of constitutional rights for all residents of our County.
I request that the mayor review existing and potential agreements with any public or private
partners, and especially in limiting any police involvement with
the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to only
cases involving criminal activity.
Please make the language clear that the County does not and will not consider simple
undocumented resident status as a "criminal," rather than civil concern.
I would request that the police department does not and will not inquire into residency status
when interfacing with the public. Finally, please include language
that prohibits any and all law enforcement, be it local, state, or federal, to wear identity -
concealing masks except in those instances of undercover investigations o
or requiring emergency health -protective equipment. =�
