Subject: Heather Kimball / chicken ordinance
Aloha, I question the chicken ordinance that is being proposed by Heather Kimball from
district 1. Certainly some people do not like roosters. I guess
even hens make noise. But people need to produce food. Even on a house lot it should be
fine to have fowl .... Including males.to have sustainable food. Especially now days with
raising costs and instability because of our government. Having a garden and some
poultry shouldn't be a crime. Maybe having a bunch of roosters in little
aframes is suspicious ( gambling and fighting roosters). But I am assumingthat there are
already laws against that: the question is • are those laws
enforced? Also what about feral chickens? Other feral introduced
birds make noise are possible carries of illnesses. Feral cats ...
sometimes even dogs. Another" law" that may or may not be enforced is not a
solution. We have laws about noise and animals. FYI making a noise
complaint often is taken with little seriousness. And creating
another lawwhich regulates law abiding productive households will not solve the fact that
we have laws that are barely enforced.... The tragedy's on our
roads is just one example. Let us enforce the laws we have
before making more ones / the two hen law in my suspicion would be arbitrarily enforced
