My name is Elena Sumtsova, and I live on the Big Island.

I am writing to opposeBill-52,
introduced by Heather Kimball. I want to speak up in protection of my rights and the
rights of all people who call this beautiful island home.
The Big Island is a community of farmers and families who respect the land. We know
how to grow food and care for animals responsibly. Please allow us to continue this
important work — providing our families and our keiki with fresh, organic eggs and
quality meat.
At a time when store shelves are filled with overly processed products, it is vital that
local residents can produce clean, healthy food for themselves and their neighbors. Many
of us share what we grow and raise with our community, strengthening our island's food
security and spirit of aloha.
I respectfully ask you not to impose restrictions on property owners with egg -laying hens.
Instead, please support the people you represent by protecting their ability to live
sustainably and independently.
