Aloha Hawaii County Council,
My name is Waileia Kainoa I am a senior a Kau high and pahata elementary I am also a zero waste youth
advocate for Malama aina compostable.
Our goal in the program is to significantly reduce waste going into our landfill.
Through our program we have demonstrated that compostable foodware can be converted into compost
and applied to agricultural soils effectively. We know alternative exist and work in Hawaii environment.
The single use plastic is not only affected the environment, the waters and the land it deeply affects the
people of hawaii and around. In Malama aina compostable we try to implement old Hawaiian ways into
our daily lives. As our motto says "1 ka wa ma mua,1 ka wa ma hope" we look to the past as a guide to the
future. That is why I urge you to support Bill 83.
