Support Bill 83
Aloha Honorable Council Members,
I urge you to support Bill 83, relating to plastic and polystyrene waste. It is imperative that we
reduce/eliminate our use of nonessential plastics, especially single -use plastics, immediately. The
impacts of plastics on the environment and human health are too great to tolerate, throughout the entire
pathway of production, consumption and disposal. As we continue to learn that there is no responsible
way to deal with plastic waste, we must focus on ways to avoid producing and using plastics.
I have picked up many thousands of pieces of plastic and polystyrene from beaches and roadsides, and
on the rare occasions when 1 buy something I bring my own bag, so these are words of conviction. I hope
you share the sentiment.
