SUPPORT for Bill 83, Draft 2
My name is Allison Shiozaki. I am a resident of Ola'a, Mountain View. I am writing to strongly urge you to support Bill 83
Draft 2, and it's amendments. This is a huge step forward!
As a birthworker and someone who works with our youth, I urge you to really consider how vital banning this plastic
stream from entering our wa!, 'a!na and lani. Plastic pollution is on the greatest threats our island's health, our beyond
human relatives, and to our own as well.
Every year, more than 11 million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean, breaking down into microplastics that now
contaminate our air, water, and even human blood and organs. Our honu, our manu, our !'a, are ingesting plastics at
alarming rates, and these same toxins enter our food chain. Simply switching to nontoxic, biodegradable products will
help us transition to do better for our future
