Subject: Testimony in Support of a Plastic Free Hawaii Island
Aloha Councilmembers,
Please vote for Bill 83, which will ban single -use plastics such as cups, forks, and straws in Hawaii County. Plastic
pollution mars our beaches, and when it breaks down into tiny particles, it can get into our cells. It chokes our already
constrained landfills, threatens the ecosystems which give us our lives and livelihoods, and continues our reliance on
foreign petroleum.
Passing Bill 83 is an important step to protect our, island home for future generations. I respectfully urge you to vote YES
on Bill 83.
