Subject: Testimony on Bill 52 — Undersized A -Zoned lots must be addressed
Dear Council Members,
I support the intent of Bill 52 to allow limited household henneries in enclosures for egg production, an am
grateful that it specifically excludes roosters. However, I respectfully request the bill be amended to state
that A -zoned parcels smaller than the minimum lot size shall be treated as RA parcels for purposes of the
household hennery provisions.
Throughout the county, most, if not all, rural subdivisions have residential lots far smaller than their A
zoning designations. Because Bill 52 Draft 3 only references residential zoning districts, residents on
undersized A district lots are left in a legal gap. This must be addressed.
I support the requirement for enclosures for henneries, as scratching hens do considerable damage to
vegetable gardens and other areas without lawn. Neighboring lots should not be subject to this damage if a
nearby lot owner chooses to have a backyard flock.
