Lawson of Council District 9 to the Public Access, Open <br />Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission. <br />Aloha Council Chair Inaba and Council Members, <br />I am pleased to submit the nomination of Ms. Jennifer L. Lawson to serve on the Public Access, <br />Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission (PONC) representing Council <br />District 9. <br />Ms. Lawson was born and raised in Humboldt, California, and graduated from Paso Robles <br />High School in 2003. She went on to earn a B.S. in Biology from Portland State University. Ms. <br />Lawson has made Hawai'i Island her home for the past 16 years, where she serves as the <br />Executive Director of the Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative, having been the first hired employee of <br />the organization. Her commitment to Hawai'i Island is evident in her leadership, volunteer work, <br />and dedication to community stewardship. <br />Ms. Lawson's lifelong passion for conservation, public access, and community engagement <br />make her an exceptional candidate for PONC. <br />If confirmed, Ms. Lawson will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2030.
