RESOLUTION NO. 4 0 2G
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 33RD ANNUAL WAIMEA
CHERRY BLOSSOM HERITAGE FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the first cherry tree came to Waimea in 1953, and the Waimea Cherry
Blossom Heritage Festival ("the Festival') was founded in 1994 to highlight the blooming of
cherry trees at Church Row Park; and
WHEREAS, through the years, the Festival has evolved into a signature attraction to the
Waimea community with a range of multicultural events throughout the town, such as taiko
drumming, an arts and crafts fair, exhibitions, performances, and food booths; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting funds for expenses
relating to multimedia outreach materials and the production of the souvenir program booklet for
the Festival; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation for expenses related to the 33rd Annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage
Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
