„tY as <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />n of x• <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />488 26 <br />A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AN AWARD OF GRANT FUNDS FOR THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT. <br />WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Charter of the County ofHawaN <br />(hereinafter "the Charter”) provides that the Council, "on behalf of the county, may accept gifts <br />of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in <br />real estate"; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 <br />(2016 Edition, as amended) (hereinafter "the Code") provides, in part, that "gifts or donations of <br />money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the <br />department of finance may be accepted by resolution approved by the council"; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Community Foundation (hereinafter "HCF"), a non-profit entity, <br />has authorized $12,500 in grant funds from HCF's Ulupono Fund, a donor -advised fund, to be <br />awarded to the Department of Research and Development; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of this grant award is to fund the West Hawaii Food Systems <br />Network Specialist position; and <br />WHEREAS, the use of these funds will support critical capacity to ensure that West <br />Hawaii community voices, regional stakeholders, and local initiatives are meaningfully <br />integrated into the County's Agriculture and Food Systems Plan and Community Food Security <br />Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development is grateful for this grant <br />award and recommends its acceptance by the Council; now, therefore, <br />
