SY os y, <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />'erlii'�� <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF LATER FISCAL <br />YEARS TO ENTER INTO A MULTI -YEAR LEASE AGREEMENT FOR REAL <br />PROPERTY TO BE USED BY THE HAWAPI FIRE DEPARTMENT. <br />WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the Charter of the County of Hawaii (hereinafter "the <br />Charter") provides, in part, that "any contract, lease or other obligation requiring the payment of <br />funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year shall be made <br />or approved by resolution'; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department (hereinafter "the Tenant") wishes to re-enter <br />into a multi -year lease agreement with Maui Varieties Investments, Inc., a Hawaii corporation, <br />as tenant in severalty (hereinafter "the Landlord"), with a term of five years commencing on or <br />about May 1, 2026, and not to exceed April 30, 2031; and <br />WHEREAS, this space has historically been used since 2013 to house one Paramedic <br />and one Emergency Medical Technician during their twenty -four-hour daily shifts; and <br />WHEREAS, continued use of this space is necessary to provide emergency medical <br />services to the NR'51chu community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Tenant estimates the monthly cost of this agreement to be $2,547.23, <br />plus an additional charge to pay the Hawaii general excise tax, which is currently 4.712%; and <br />WHEREAS, the two units to be leased under this proposed agreement are Unit Nos. 226 <br />and 120, both located at 95-1163 Ka`alaiki Road, Nd'dlehu, Hawaii 96772, identified by Tax <br />Map Key No. (3) 9-5-021:026; now, therefore, <br />
