Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Communication No. 773, reports as follows:
Communication No. 773, transmitted by Mayor C. Kimo Alameda, dated February 27, 2026,
requests the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Alan Okamoto to the Liquor
Commission.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Micah Alameda, was present in the West Hawaii Civic Center in
Kona to introduce Mr. Okamoto, who was also present in person in Kona.
Committee Member Dennis "Fresh" Onishi clarified that there are two individuals residing on
Hawaii Island with the name Alan Okamoto and this reference is to Alan K. Okamoto. All future
documents will include his middle initial for clarity.
Pursuant to Article VII, Chapter 3, Section 7-3.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the
Liquor Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Communication No. 773, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of
Alan Okamoto to the Liquor Commission.
