ENERGY STAR Homes Participants Page 1 of 1
U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR HOMES PROGRAM
Since 1994, the ENERGY STAR Homes Program has been part of a
family of ENERGY STAR programs designed to prevent pollution while
saving money and increasing profits for Americans. To meet this
objective, ENERGY STAR programs make it easy for consumers to
choose cost-effective, energy saving homes and products that can
offer a wide range of additional user benefits.
The ENERGY STAR Homes Program works with builders (Partners), as
well as associations, material manufacturers, rating companies and
financing institutions (Allies), to grow the program's recognition as a
symbol for quality.
Together, the EPA, Partners, and Allies contribute to the program's
success. This joint effort is making consumers and the industry aware
of the benefits of energy-efficient new home construction that not only
provides high-quality, healthy, comfortable durable homes, but also
saves money and the environment.

g Positive Cash Flow
The true cost of a house is what it costs you to own and operate it
every month, not just its "sticker" price. The savings on your
y~~ monthly utility bills for an ENERGY STAR Home can save you
thousands of dollars over the life of your loan. That savings can
either be used to purchase a higher-priced house up-front, or can
be pocketed as positive cash flow. Our illustrated examples can
show you how.
The Savings Begin On the First Day of Ownership
The savings with an ENERGY STAR Home begin immediately - from
the first moment home buyers move in. Since the savings are
designed around the home owner's monthly cash flow, the owner
doesn't have to wait until resale to gain the financial benefits.
Lower Maintenance Cost
The features typically found in an ENERGY STAR Home not only
make it more energy-efficient, but usually carry increased warranty
coverage - possibly eliminating some repair costs.
