RESOLUTION NO. 540 2G
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE HAWAI`I POLICE DEPARTMENT TO
PURCHASE MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT FOR USE BY COMMUNITY
POLICING AND HI -PAL.
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department is committed to providing the highest
quality of police service and forming partnerships with the community to make Hawaii Island a
safe place to live, visit, and conduct business; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department's Community Policing program is
responsible for developing partnerships within the community to create a safe and secure
environment through community mobilization, crime prevention efforts, and community
programs; and
WHEREAS, Community Policing is requesting funds for two smart TVs, two TV wall
mounts, a Bluetooth speakerphone, and a freezer refrigerator, which will serve a public purpose
by enhancing public safety operations, supporting youth programming, and improving
organizational efficiency; and
WHEREAS, III -PAL (Hawai`i Isle Police Activities League) is a community youth
program under the Hawaii Police Department that provides social and athletic activities for
Hawaii Island youth to promote a spirit of sportsmanship, benevolence, friendship, sociability,
goodwill, and tolerance; and
WHEREAS, HI -PAL is requesting funds for a scoreboard, cooler, two portable speakers,
three toolboxes, and a pop-up tent, which will serve a public purpose by providing recreation for
Hawaii Island youth, developing a friendly relationship between youths and police, and
cultivating moral and civic standards for youths in our community; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Police
Department to purchase miscellaneous equipment for use by Community Policing and HI -PAL.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Chief of Police and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
