REPORT OF THE
COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
Re: Comm. No. 788/Res. No. 496-26
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 496-26, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 496-26, transmitted by Assistant Corporation Counsel J S. Yoshimoto via
Communication No. 788, dated March 10, 2026, accepts a donation of grant funds and other in -kind
donations to the Department of Parks and Recreation for the Lincoln Park Tennis Courts and Edith
Kanaka`ole Multi -Purpose Stadium.
The donation from the United States Tennis Association has an estimated value of $160,000.
Corporation Counsel J S. Yoshimoto and Capital Improvement Projects Manager Laura Dierenfield
was present in Chambers.
Committee Member Jenn Kagiwada and James E. Hustace stated that they had questions for the
department but seeing no department representatives present, reserved them for the next Council
meeting.
Committee Member Dennis "Fresh" Onishi stated that he was involved in this project and had
spoken with the Tennis Association about it and stated that he wanted to ensure that these funds
would not lapse.
Mr. Hustace asked when the department applied for this grant. Mr. Yoshimoto said it was about a
year ago. Mr. Hustace asked why this project had been delayed. Mr. Yoshimoto said he would need
to get back to him on that at the next hearing.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 496-26, and
recommends its adoption.
