HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 558 Draft 01 2024-2026,tY Oi M�i L `1 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. 558 2G A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO EQUALITY HI TO SUPPORT THE 14TH ANNUAL PRIDE PARADE AND FESTIVAL. WHEREAS, Equality HI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to proactively engage in creating an inclusive and diverse queer community through aloha, leadership, resources, services, and education; and WHEREAS, Equality HI is requesting funds for expenses related to the 14th Annual Pride Parade and Festival, including sound system rental, traffic control personnel and equipment, safety and sensory support items, printed materials, and administrative fees, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting culture and the arts; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 are hereby transferred to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Equality HI for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $3,600 OUT AND FROM: 1010-11-10191 Clerk -Council SVC — Contingency Relief $3,600 CREDITED TO 1010-21-25139 Department of Liquor Control $3,600 Public Programs 530115 Misc. The 14th Annual Pride Parade and Festival is a free, family -friendly event open to all ages, held in Downtown Hilo, with activities centered around the Mo'oheau Park bandstand. The event features a lineup of entertainment and activities, including live performances by queer artists, two entertainment areas, food vendors, keiki activities, community resources, local merchants, and designated ally and family -friendly zones. The festival celebrates diversity, inclusion, acceptance, and equality, creating a vibrant and welcoming space for the community. *44.501(c)(3) Mission Statement To proactively engage in creating an inclusive and diverse queer community through aloha, leadership, resources, services, and education. * 45. Equality HI is one of the few organizations based in Hawari County that supports the LGBTQIA+ community and participates annually in the Hilo Pride Parade and Festival. The organization provides fiscal sponsorship to Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pdde's Annual Pride Parade and Festival, which brings together members of the LGBTQ community to affirm their fundamental rights and place in Hawari County. *46. The Pride Parade and Festival brings queer culture into public view and creates a safe and joyous space for the LGBTQIA+ community to learn about resources and cultivate a sense of belonging.
