Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 551-26, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 551-26, transmitted by Research and Development Director Benson Medina via
Communication No. 863, dated April 9, 2026, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an
intergovernmental agreement with the State of Hawaii, Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity,
to receive a grant for the Coffee Berry Borer and Coffee Leaf Rust Pesticide Subsidy Program.
This resolution allows for the receipt of $150,000 of federally -derived funds to aid coffee growers
in Kona and Ka`n by offsetting the cost of purchasing approved pesticides.
There was no discussion on this matter.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 551-26, and
recommends its adoption.
