Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 153, reports as follows:
Bill No. 153, transmitted by Research and Development Director Benson Medina via
Communication No. 863, dated April 9, 2026, amends Ordinance No. 25-45, as amended, the
Operating Budget of the County of Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026.
This bill appropriates revenues in the State Grants — Coffee Berry Borer/Coffee Leaf Rust
Pesticide Subsidy Program account ($150,000); and appropriates the same to the Coffee Berry
Borer/Coffee Leaf Rust Pesticide Subsidy Program account. Funds would used to aid coffee
growers in Kona and Ka`n by offsetting the cost of purchasing approved pesticides.
There was no further discussion on this matter.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 153, and
recommends its passage on first reading.
