Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Resolution
No. 552-26, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 552-26, transmitted by Council Member Michelle M. Galimba, via Communication
No. 865, dated April 16, 2026, authorizes the Director of Finance to enter into negotiations for the
acquisition of lands or conservation easements for all or a portion of the properties identified as Tax
Map Keys: 8-1-009:007 and 008, also known as K6kua Kealakekua, situated in the Ahupua`a of
Ka`awaloa, District of South Kona, utilizing the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources
Preservation Fund.
The County seeks to acquire approximately 1.26 acres of land listed as the highest priority in the
2025 Annual Report of the Public, Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation
Commission.
Council Members Galimba, Rebecca Villegas, and Holeka Goro Inaba shared their gratefulness for
the testifiers and supporters for their efforts to protect `aina through multiple community -led
government supported processes to make our island home a better place for generations to come.
Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Resolution No. 552-26, and recommends its adoption.
