�6i1a, <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />�*1 OF•M'� <br />RESOLUTION NO. --%7G 2 ; <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAPI, <br />DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, AND TOURISM, TO <br />RECEIVE A GRANT FOR THE KONA LOW BUSINESS RECOVERY PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes requires the consent of the <br />Council in order for the County to enter into an agreement with the federal government or any <br />other public body respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted to the <br />County by law and furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with <br />projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; and <br />WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii, Department of Business, Economic Development, and <br />Tourism, has authorized $500,000 to be provided to the County as a grant for the Kona Low <br />Business Recovery Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development wishes to enter into an <br />agreement with the State of Hawaii, Department of Business, Economic Development, and <br />Tourism, to receive these grant funds; and <br />WHEREAS, funds from this grant will be used for a one-time relief to eligible Hawaii <br />Island small businesses that sustained material economic or physical damage from the Kona Low <br />storm; and <br />WHEREAS, the two Kona Low systems that occurred from March 13 through March <br />27, 2026, caused significant material economic and physical damage to small businesses <br />operating withing the County, creating an urgent need for targeted relief assistance; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, <br />pursuant to Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter <br />into an agreement with the State of Hawaii, Department of Business, Economic Development, <br />and Tourism, for the purposes hereinabove described. <br />
