-CV of <br />COUNTY OF HAWAPI STATE OF HAWAPI <br />OF •N►' <br />RESOLUTION NO. �'7 7 26 <br />A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE RULES OF PROCEDURE AND ORGANIZATION <br />OF THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAPI BY ADDING A RULE <br />RELATING TO NATIVE HAWAIIAN LAW TRAINING. <br />WHEREAS, on December 2, 2024, the Council of the County of Hawaii (hereinafter, <br />the "Council') adopted the Rules of Procedure and Organization of the Council of the County of <br />Hawai `i (hereinafter, the "Rules") as provided in Resolution No. 3-25 to govern the affairs of the <br />Council; and <br />WHEREAS, Rule No. 16-1 provides, in part, that the Rules "may be amended at a <br />regular Council meeting by a resolution approved by an affirmative majority vote of the entire <br />membership of the Council'; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council finds that adding a new rule relating to Native Hawaiian law <br />training bears consideration; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that the <br />Rules are hereby amended by adding a rule to be appropriately inserted and to read as follows: <br />"RULE NO. _ <br />NATIVE HAWAIIAN LAW TRAINING <br />1. Each Council Member shall enroll in and complete the training course administered <br />by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs under the Hawaii Revised Statutes, section 10- <br />42, relating to Native Hawaiian and Hawaiian traditional and customary rights, <br />natural resources and access rights, and the public trust. <br />2. This rule does not apply to any Council Member who has completed the <br />aforementioned training during a previous term on the Council." <br />
