Re: Operating Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance appropriating an additional $6,140 that the
State Department of Education is granting to the Hawaii County Police
Department for the purpose of sending officers to the National D.A.R.E. Officers
Association Training Conference. An amount of $35,000 is already appropriated
in the FY 2000-01 budget.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawai'i County
Police Department.

B. BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION(USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The State of Hawaii Department of Education is providing
additional funding to send officers to the National D.A.R.E.
Officers Association Training Conference.
To provide a consistent and good curriculum for the students, the
officers must be properly trained. These officers will in return
provide the necessary support for the DARE program in all public
and participating private schools within the County of Hawaii.
