COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
Re: Comm. No. 893/Bill No. 160
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 160, reports as follows:
Bill No. 160, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication No. 893,
dated May 1, 2026, amends Ordinance No. 25-45, as amended, the Operating Budget of the
County of Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026.
This bill appropriates revenues in the Real Property Tax Penalties account ($1,125,000); and
appropriates the same to the following Transfer to Public Access/Open Space Preservation
accounts: Fund ($1,000,000) and Maintenance Fund ($125,000).
Committee Member Michelle Galimba asked Finance Director Diane Nakagawa and Controller
Jon Arbles to explain the Real Property Tax Penalties. Mr. Arbles provided an overview of this
matter.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 160, and
recommends its passage on first reading.
