RESOLUTION NO. 590 26
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 4TH OF JULY HILO BAY
BLAST EVENT.
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Culture and Education Division
provides educational and community -based activities and events to celebrate, perpetuate, and
foster the appreciation of our islands' rich multicultural heritage in the arts, history, and the
humanities; and
WHEREAS, the Hilo Bay Blast is a community event scheduled for July 4, 2026, and is
open to the public to enjoy free of charge; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting funds to assist with
the planning and operations of this event, including public safety, traffic control, event logistics,
and fireworks -related expenses, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or
promoting the interests of educational concerns, culture and the arts, the needs of the poor,
youth, the aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities, and the public health and welfare
of our island community; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation for expenses relating to the 4th of July Hilo Bay Blast event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
