When we were keiki's we were taught to keep your freedom you must take active involve- ment in protecting what is dear to our life & environment, otherwise you will lose itl Faithfully we voted and gave active inputs to officials of public office who had convictions and moral standards which reflected our own. Today something has changed. Our elected officials of public office and their appointments are not reflecting our or the Communities desires, but their own. . An example of this is what is currently happening with Government Beach Road proposed paving and bringing up to County standards. This 11 mile section of road, once a Hawai'ian trail, travels through some of the last undeveloped land of lower Puna, Hawai'i. It is a sacred treasure to it's residents and visitors alike. There is unanimous agreement in Koa'e & Wa'a Wa'a that this section of Beach Road be left exactly as is. That the County's only role in this road should be one of maintainance. This section of Government Beach Road must be protected because it is the last of what was once so highly valued in Hawaii. Yet it would appear that the Yamashiro administration has the power to see this proposal realized despite peoples objections. County Council Members are elected to serve the public. We seek your help in immediately 'halting this proposal, thus saving this special section of Government Beach Road and tax monies. Sincerely... 0_5.•...- /4 ne `" z. / LcItn J \ r RECEIVES I _ `y . time__— _ M •t . Date a l a s/ 1. ` County Council /? -PAIN tJ 1 J ,` 4 , I °DS I Comm. No // / ear File No. ', Ref.
