Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Communication No. 947, reports as follows:
Communication No. 947, transmitted by Mayor C. Kimo Alameda, dated June 18, 2026, requests
the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Jonathan Zeichner to the Hamakua
Community Development Plan Action Committee.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Micah Alameda, was present in the Hilo Chambers to introduce
Mr. Zeichner, who was also present via zoom.
Committee Member Heather L. Kimball spoke in favor of the appointment.
Committee Chair Jenn Kagiwada asked Mr. Alameda if Mr. Zeichner was filling a vacancy due to
the short length of this term. Mr. Alameda said that in working with the staff they try to fill the most
recent vacancy first and he added that when this term ends, Mr. Zeichner will be eligible to fill
another term.
Pursuant to Chapter 16, Article 3, Section 16-5(a) of the Hawaii County Code, members of the
Hamakua Community Development Plan Action Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor and
confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Communication No. 947, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of
of Jonathan Zeichner to the Hamakua Community Development Plan Action Committee.
