I worked long and hard, doing community outreach and gathering signatures to get this legislation passed. It was passed with overwhelming support from the community. We love the natural beauty of our aina and we don't want it to look like Waikiki or Miami Beach. If anything, you should be increasing protections to this important law. The Developers never stop, they can't help themselves. All they see is money. They see the beauty of Hawaii and they want to sell it. Believe me, if there's the tiniest chink in our legislative protections to our environment, they will pry their way in and exploit our beautiful islands and sell it to the wealthy few who can afford to pay. 1. WHEN deposits are made to the fund must be added (at least yearly) , otherwise the Maintenance Fund may not be funded at all . 2. Accounting details so citizens can WATCHDOG how our tax dollars are being spent. Details are important to know how the money is spent, where, why and for what purpose. 3. A broad outline of the process to provide a framework of the process in the charter so it is clear that the PONC commission’s oversight is included and the Department of Finance and the Council participate in the decision. Thank you for your consideration and hard work to protect our beautiful island home. We are so grateful to you for your efforts. -- Fight with aloha, Topher Dean 1 Founder, Clean The Pacific President, Recycle Hawaii 2
