SUBJECT: Proposed Amendment to Bill No. 164, Draft 2; An Ordinance amending
Chapter 2, Article 13, Division 2, Section 2-69, of the Hawaii County
Code 1983 (2016 edition, as amended), relating to the Housing
Administrator.
Transmitted herewith is a proposed amendment to Bill No. 164, Draft 2. The amendment is
shown below in Ramseyer format with respect to the content of Bill No. 164, Draft 2; material to
be inserted is underscored. Due to the limited scope of this proposed amendment, a copy of the
new draft of this bill that would result if the amendment were adopted is not attached.
SECTION 1 of Bill No. 164, which amends chapter 2, article 13, division 2, section 2-69, of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended) by amending subsection (a), is amended
to read as follows:
"(a) There shall be a housing administrator who shall be appointed by the mayor,
confirmed by the council, and may be removed by the mayor. The mayor shall
appoint a housing administrator within thirty days of taking office or within sixty
days after the occurrence of a vacancy. The council shall act to confirm or reject any
appointment by the mayor within sixty days after receiving notice of the appointment
from the mayor. If the council does not confirm or reject any such appointment within
sixty days, the appointee shall be deemed to have been confirmed."
