Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 609-26, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 609-26, transmitted by Mayor C. Kimo Alameda via Communication No. 971,
dated July 10, 2026, authorizes the payment of funds of later fiscal years for the funding of cost
items associated with the Hawaii Government Employees Association, Bargaining Unit 15, for the
contract period beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2029.
The estimated costs over the four years of the new contract resulting from lump -sum payments,
across-the-board increases, and step movements would be $1,819,315.
Finance Director Diane Nakagawa was present in Kona for questions.
Committee Member Jenn Kagiwada asked if health insurance was included in this contract.
Ms. Nakagawa confirmed but stated that she would let her know if it was included in the bargaining
at the next hearing.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 609-26, and
recommends its adoption.
