A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT IN THE GEOTHERMAL RELOCATION AND COMMUNITY
BENEFITS FUND TO ENHANCE THE PĀHOA AQUATIC CENTER AT THE WILLIAM “BILLY” KENOI DISTRICT PARK.
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 36, of the Hawai‘i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), (hereinafter “the Code”) established the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Program,
which is administered by the Planning Department; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 36, Section 2-179, of the Code established a special fund known as the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Fund; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 36, Section 2-181, of the Code, allowable expenditures for public purposes relating to the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Program
include, but are not limited to, road improvements, water infrastructure, land acquisition, parks and recreational facility needs, civil defense, and mass transit improvements, provided
that appropriations are adopted by the Council after receipt of recommendations from the Planning Director; and
WHEREAS, funds from the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Fund would be used to procure replacement diving boards and starting blocks for the Pāhoa Aquatic Center to maintain
safe and reliable aquatic infrastructure and ensure continued public access to quality recreational facilities that promote health, safety, and community well-being; and
WHEREAS, the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Program was created to provide funding and support to address the needs and concerns of the Lower Puna region; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 36, Section 2-181, of the Code, and with the approval of the Planning Director, the
following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $113,000 from the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Fund will be utilized to procure the items as set forth in this resolution to enhance the Pāhoa
Aquatic Center at the William “Billy” Kenoi District Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Honorable C. Kimo Alameda, Mayor of the County of Hawaiʻi; Jeffrey W. Darrow, Planning Director;
Clayton S. Honma, Parks and Recreation Director; and Diane T. Nakagawa, Director of Finance.
